Götz Görgen to become SEFE’s New Chief Information Officer on November 1, 2023

Götz Görgen will assume the role of Chief Information Officer (CIO) and become a member of SEFE’s Management Council from November 1, 2023. For the past three years, he has held the positions of Director Digital and Process Excellence and IT Director (interim) at the transmission system operator TenneT TSO. TenneT emerged from Eon's network division.

Götz Görgen is an experienced professional who excels in both strategic and operational IT management and brings a strong economic understanding as an IT expert,” commented Reinhard Gorenflos, Chairman of the SEFE Board of Directors.

Görgen’s new role and responsibilities will include advancing ongoing IT transformation programmes in trading, distribution, and corporate IT.  “I am convinced that the future of energy procurement will be green, digital, and cross-sector,” says Görgen. “Digital platforms are profoundly altering traditional business models in the energy supply sector. It is essential for the continued future success of the business to actively manage this digital transformation.”

Götz Görgen has over 25 years of experience in leadership roles in IT and change programmes across various industries (including energy, telecommunications, journalism, and consulting). He possesses comprehensive expertise in transformation and change management, having established international business units in a DAX corporation, developed new business structures and processes in dynamic and complex business areas, and led change processes toward digital profitability and efficient operations.

Görgen's professional journey began in 1997 at Wettschereck & Partner GmbH as Head of Development and subsequently, in 2000, at Ernst & Young. In 2003, he joined RWE AG as a Business Partner and Senior Officer in the Group CIO Office, before reporting directly to the CFO of RWE Gas Midstream as Head of Information Management in 2007. In 2008, Götz took over the role of Organization and Information Management (CIO) at RWE Innogy before transitioning to Innogy SE Renewables as Head of Business Transformation & IT in 2017. Since 2020, he has served as Director Digital and Process Excellence and Programs Executive for OneERP at TenneT TSO.

Götz Görgen holds a degree from Bergische Universität Wuppertal (Economics) and served as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board for Relined B.V. Görgen resides near Düsseldorf with his wife and two children.
