Responsible and
purposeful action

At SEFE, we take responsibility for individuals, communities and the foundations that make sustainable action possible. We believe sustainability starts with people: our employees, our partners, and the communities we serve. For us, social responsibility means fostering fair conditions, upholding reliable standards and engaging actively – across the entire value chain and beyond.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Serving 50,000, responsible for millions

Security of supply is more than a technical achievement – it’s a social responsibility. Reliable access to energy enables people to live, work and plan with confidence. That’s precisely what SEFE provides for over 50,000 customers across Europe, contributing to economic stability and social cohesion.

SEFE has set ambitious targets: the goal of ensuring 70 terawatt hours of LNG available annually for Europe by 2030 has already been exceeded in 2024, with volumes reaching 85 terawatt hours – a sharp rise from 48 terrawatt hours in 2023. That same year, gas storage availability stood at 99.7%, well above the target of 98%, excluding scheduled maintenance.

HUMAN RIGHTS

Taking a clear stance

At SEFE, respect for human rights isn’t just a duty – it’s a core value. We actively protect these rights throughout every aspect of our business, both internally and across our supply chain. Our actions are grounded in internationally recognised standards, and we ensure full transparency in everything we do.
SEFE unequivocally upholds internationally recognised human rights. We integrate this commitment into all our operations – from internal practices to our entire value chain.
Our human rights principles draw upon key global declarations, including:
  • The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948)
  • The ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (1998/2022)
SEFE aligns its actions with key international frameworks and national regulations, such as:
  • The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
  • The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact
  • The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises
  • The UK Modern Slavery Act
  • The German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG)
In 2024, SEFE introduced a group-wide statement affirming its respect for human rights, with the aim of setting clear standards and systematically identifying and mitigating risks throughout the supply chain.

Acting with purpose

Our commitment extends beyond the workplace. We recognise our role in society and take responsibility accordingly. Through initiatives that make a difference in health, education or the environment, we strive to make a tangible impact. These efforts are coordinated by SEFE’s company-wide Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Board and focus on four key areas.
We support organisations such as IntensivLeben e.V., Verein für beatmete und intensivpflichtige Kinder und Jugendliche e.V. Kassel to bring hope and care to seriously ill individuals – especially children.
We believe creativity and learning need space to grow. That’s why we support initiatives like the Manchester Youth Zone to foster educational access and promote cultural exchange.
SEFE invests in projects that safeguard the environment and accelerate the shift towards sustainable energy – paving the way for a greener future.
MedSupport e.V., founded by SEFE employees in 1993, is a project especially close to our hearts, providing funding for medical treatment for people in need. In addition, we support Alte Schule Kleinmachnow, a social initiative offering assistance to Ukrainian refugees.
