Backbone of
supply security

SEFE is actively investing in long-distance pipelines and other transport infrastructure. Our goal: ensuring security of supply, system stability and the availability of sustainable energy sources such as hydrogen.

By leveraging our partnerships, deep market expertise and strong local presence, we’re positioning ourselves for a low-carbon energy future – building a reliable supply that benefits everyone.

NATURAL GAS PIPELINES

Pipeline networks: securing Europe’s energy flows

GASCADE and NEL are independent transmission system operators within the SEFE Group. Their networks cover around 4,200 kilometres, connect five European countries and boast more than 100 entry and exit points within the Trading Hub Europe (THE) market area. All customers book under the same conditions – we guarantee fair, transparent and non-discriminatory access.

On the North European Natural Gas Pipeline (NEL), we also offer comprehensive transport services at all times. Our centrally controlled system is engineered to the highest technical standards, and we continuously optimise it to ensure gas reaches its destination safely – supporting energy security now and for the future.

Infrastructure for
the energy future

GASCADE and NEL ensure the reliable flow of energy through their German pipeline systems – natural gas today, hydrogen tomorrow. That's how we chart the course for a swift transition to environmentally friendly energy. By the end of the decade, we plan to adapt large parts of our systems to transport hydrogen at gigawatt scale.

The first hydrogen-ready sections already became operational in 2025. Our vision includes building and operating Germany’s first offshore hydrogen pipeline and scaling our transport infrastructure in line with demand – facilitating the distribution of hydrogen produced in Germany through our pipelines.

LNG SHIPPING

Secure transport
around the world

We provide end-to-end LNG transport services, including global supply chain management. Every year, we ship around eight million tonnes of LNG using our own fleet capacities, coordinated from our hubs in London and Singapore. As a flexible and globally tradable commodity, LNG complements our pipeline infrastructure – diversifying supply sources, opening up new markets and increasing price transparency.

In addition to LNG, we also trade freight and derivatives. Operating from our regional hubs, our LNG division offers flexible contract models tailored to your needs – whether it's individual transactions or long-term contracts. Our full-service approach covers every aspect, from deal structuring to shipping, technical management and marine assurance, allowing us to ensure reliable and secure deliveries worldwide.
